The Client
Changing technologies have resulted in changes to the layout and design of our buildings. In the late 1800s the introduction of telegraph offices led to extensions and alterations to many buildings. Similarly, changes in mail handling in the 1900s led to alterations to post offices and construction of new dedicated mail distribution facilities. More recently, we have opened shops in major shopping centres and constructed new large-format retail stores.
Project
Whytehall carried out construction and refurbishment of the existing Emerald post office, creating a vibrant, new environment.
An adjoining tenancy opportunity for a photographic retail shop was also created. Trading at the post office continued throughout the re-development works with minimum disruption being caused.
New shop fronts; an automatic door entry system; new suspended ceilings; display cabinetry; wall shelving and service counters all formed part of the contract. Electrical, plumbing, painting and flooring trades were all utilized during the re-fit.
